Grade 5Linguistic Proficiency
Students must provide proof of having passed a foreign language proficiency exam administered by a recognized institution, within a maximum of sixty days prior to the final defense. Master’s students are required to demonstrate proficiency in one foreign language, while Doctoral students must demonstrate proficiency in two foreign languages.
Doctoral students may request recognition of a foreign language proficiency exam taken during their Master’s program. The proficiency will be considered valid if completed within five years prior to enrollment in the Doctoral programme.
The foreign languages accepted by the Programme as a language proficiency certification are: German, Spanish, French, English, and Italian. Approval in the proficiency exam will be recorded on the student’s academic transcript. Foreign applicants from non-Portuguese-speaking countries must demonstrate proficiency in Portuguese by passing a proficiency exam administered by the Department of Humanities and Education (DHE) at UNIJUÍ or by another institution accredited for this purpose.
